GAI of the Kirov region explained where traffic accidents involving animals most often occur.
According to the State Traffic Inspectorate of the region, accidents involving wild animals most often occur in the early morning or nighttime hours on roads passing through forested areas. Most accidents with wild animals are recorded in the Kirovo-Chepetsky, Orichevsky, Orlovsky, Svechinsky, Soveitsky, and Yaransky districts. In 2025, there were 10 traffic accidents involving wild animals in the Kirov region, resulting in 12 people receiving injuries of varying severity. The department reminded that if a driver notices a wild animal on the road or shoulder, they should reduce speed to a complete stop and turn on hazard lights. Movement can only resume after the animal has left the roadway. Sudden honking or blinding the animal with headlights is not recommended, as there is a high probability that the animal will run toward the vehicle. In the event of an accident with an animal, it is important that the driver does not leave the scene but reports the incident to the police. Police officers will inform veterinary services about the incident.
