Frogs have appeared in the public wells of Lesobirzha.
Residents of Lesobirzha microdistrict in the city of Luz contacted the ONF regional office. Approximately 200 people live in this neighborhood, and all have issues with drinking water. There is no central water supply; there are old wells built around 20 years ago. Over time, these wells have deteriorated: the wood structures have rotted, and the roofs are in poor condition. The water in them is of questionable quality — it contains sand and sometimes frogs. Local residents have tried drilling wells in their gardens, but the water there is also non-potable.
"People are forced to buy drinking water in stores. Those with personal transport travel with bottles and cans to the municipal water station in a neighboring district. If they walk, they have to cover more than two kilometers round trip. Such distances with heavy loads are difficult for most. Residents have repeatedly appealed to the Luz administration, asking for a drinking water station to be installed in their neighborhood. Authorities agree that a station is needed, but say there is no funding for its construction," explained ONF activists.
After the civil activists contacted the Luz district administration, they were informed that the issue depends on funding. "The estimate documentation is already prepared. A request has been sent to the regional Ministry of Energy and Housing and Communal Services for funding from the regional budget. But there has been no response yet," said the ONF regional office, citing a reply from the Luz administration.
