Dreaming big: a student from Kirov creates a breakthrough medical startup

      Studying to become a Medical Researcher, Renat combines clinical work with innovative developments. In the V season of the "I am a Professional" Olympiad, he successfully reached the finals in the fields of "Pharmacy", "Medical and Pediatrics" and "Medical and preventive medicine", which became the starting point of his professional growth.

      "Thanks to my participation in the Olympiad, for the first time I truly realized how medicine is an immense and amazing field of knowledge. The preparation for the competition has opened up many new aspects for me: from complex clinical cases to the interrelationships between different sciences. This sense of the scale and depth of my profession inspired me to move on and learn more," says Renat Takhirov.

      Now the young scientist is creating an artificial intelligence–based program that analyzes electroencephalograms, helping doctors make accurate diagnoses of epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and other neurological diseases faster. This will make high-quality diagnostics more accessible to residents of all regions of Russia.

      "The I am a Professional Olympiad opens the doors to the world of high technologies: during the eighth season alone, we sent more than 8,500 students to internships at leading companies, including the Moscow Center for Innovative Technologies in Healthcare. High–tech internships at MedTech are a chance to gain a real competitive advantage in the labor market, get to the forefront of Russian science and create products for high–tech startups with your own hands," says Valeria Kasamara, head of the All–Russian Student Olympiad "I am a Professional."

      A key step towards Renat's dream career was an internship at the Moscow Center for Innovative Technologies in Healthcare, which he completed thanks to his participation in the Olympiad. After that, he became an intern at the Neurological department of Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital in China and completed the Sechenovtech acceleration educational program. Renat also presents the results of his research at international conferences.

      The All–Russian Student Olympiad "I am a professional" unites the most talented students and makes professionalism a value. It is implemented within the framework of the federal project "Russia – the land of opportunities" of the national project "Youth and Children" with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia.
