
During the week, more than 2.8 thousand residents of the region suffered from tick bites.
Over the past week, 2,808 people have applied to medical institutions in the Kirov region with complaints of tick bites. Among them are 360 children, which is almost 13% of the total number of victims.
Laboratory tests have confirmed 11 cases of tick-borne encephalitis infection, including two cases in children. 18 cases of borreliosis have also been identified.
Acaricide treatments are continuing in public recreation areas. During the week, special treatment was carried out on an area of more than 2,600 hectares.
Studies of ticks taken from humans showed a high level of infection: almost 59% had borreliosis, 1.5% had encephalitis virus. There were also ticks with ehrlichiosis and anaplasmosis.
More than half of the bites were recorded in Kirov residents, but most of them occurred outside the city. Most often, people sought help after visiting Kirovo-Chepetsky, Orichevsky, Slobodsky and Yuryansky districts.
