Cassation did not help: Viktor Tarasov's sentence was upheld.

At the end of May, a meeting of the Sixth Court of Cassation of General Jurisdiction was held in the case of Viktor Tarasov, former director of the Kirov Region Capital Repair Fund. The convict and his lawyers insisted on the cancellation of the verdict, pointing out numerous violations. However, the court found no grounds for reviewing the case: the cassation appeals were dismissed, and the verdict remained in force.

Tarasov was found guilty of receiving eight commercial bribes and embezzling more than 1.4 million rubles. He was sentenced to 9 years in a high-security penal colony and fined 5 million rubles.
