Beresnev commented on the bill on the regulation of paid education in universities

Roman Beresnev, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Kirov Region, spoke about the draft law on changes to the higher education system, which was discussed in the State Duma the day before.

The document provides for the transfer of powers to the Russian government to regulate the volume of paid admission to universities. According to Beresnev, the initiative is aimed at eliminating the imbalance between the number of budget and paid places.

The Speaker of the Assembly noted that today there are many times more paid places in areas such as economics, law and management than the market requires. He stressed that as a result, young people receive diplomas that they do not work for, although they could study for the necessary specialties and then get a job. In his opinion, the higher education system should be more focused on the needs of the economy.

He also assured that schoolchildren and parents have no reason to worry — the bill is still under discussion and has passed only the first reading. All changes will be implemented gradually. According to Beresnev, not only the professional realization of young people, but also the future of the country depends on the quality of education.
