
Public activists checked how convicts are kept in the colonies of the Kirov region
Members of the Public Monitoring Commission (POC) Anna Ilyina and Alexander Druzhinin visited correctional colonies No. 1 and No. 17 in the Kirov region. The purpose of the visit is to monitor the observance of the rights of convicts and the conditions of their detention.
During the inspection, representatives of the Public Monitoring Committee examined residential detachments, penal isolation cells, strict conditions of detention, as well as rooms for short-term and long-term visits. Special attention was paid to the sanitary condition of institutions, the quality of food, as well as the availability of medical care. The inspectors visited the canteens, got acquainted with the menu and personally assessed the quality of the prepared dishes.
In addition, the commission members visited the production sites, where they learned about the employment of convicts, the amount of wages and the range of products.
During the visit, the activists held personal conversations with the convicts, during which they discussed issues of respect for their rights and responded to appeals.
The inspection was planned and aimed at ensuring transparency and legality in the activities of the regional penitentiary system.
