A fire in Vakhrush claimed the life of a man — investigators are establishing the circumstances of the tragedy.

      The fire occurred in one of the apartments of the house on Lenin Street. The fire was reported to the emergency services at night. Eight employees and two pieces of equipment of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations were sent to the scene. The fire was quickly extinguished on an area of 10 sq. m. The fire damaged the bed and the walls of the room.

      After the fire was contained, rescuers found the body of the 60-year-old apartment owner. According to preliminary data, the man could have fallen asleep with an unlit cigarette, which led to the fire.

      An investigative and operational group is working at the scene of the incident. Employees of the Sloboda interdistrict investigation Department are conducting a pre-investigation check aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident. A procedural decision will be made based on its results.

      The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia and the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Kirov region remind of the need to comply with fire safety regulations. Smoking indoors is a potential threat to life. Experts also recommend installing fire detectors in residential areas — in case of smoke, they can save lives.
