      On April 15, employees of the Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Kirov region paid tribute to the memory of their colleague Denis Pletnev. Exactly twenty years ago, he died in the line of duty in Chechnya.

      Denis Evgenievich was born in 1978 in Kirov, studied at school No. 30 and the Physics and Mathematics Lyceum. He was interested in computer science, music and sports, and engaged in hand-to-hand combat. During his school years, he successfully performed at city and regional mathematical Olympiads, often winning prizes.

      Pletnev's father was a military man, and his desire to continue the family tradition led him to enter the Academy of the FSB of Russia in 1995. After graduation, in 2001, he began serving in the department of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Kirov region, which was located in Kirovo-Chepetsk.

      In 2004, the officer was sent on a business trip to Chechnya. On April 15, 2005, Captain Pletnev took part in a special operation in Grozny. His search group was engaged in the search and destruction of the leaders of illegal armed groups. During the operation, the militants put up strong resistance and opened heavy fire on the FSB officers, using grenades. The heavy battle lasted for five hours. During this collision, Pletnev died. As a result of the operation, six bandits were killed.

      For his courage and bravery in the performance of military duty, Captain Denis Pletnev was awarded the Order of Courage posthumously.
