A resident of Kirov became a victim of fraud after receiving a "photo" in a messenger
Kirov police officers are investigating a case of fraud and unlawful access to computer information. The victim of the criminals was a 38-year-old man who received a Telegram message from an unknown sender with an attached file called "Photo".
After opening the file, the Kirov resident did not notice any changes, but soon received an SMS notification about logging into his Gosuslug account and trying to change his password. The man changed his banking details, but a few days later he learned that a loan in a microfinance organization in the amount of 9.8 thousand rubles had been issued in his name.
An antivirus scan of the phone revealed a malicious application installed through the received file. It allowed the attackers to gain access to the victim's device and personal data.
Criminal cases have been opened into the incident, and a search is underway for suspects. The police urge citizens to be vigilant and not to open attachments from strangers in messengers, social networks and e-mail.
