New species of animals will be added to the Red Book of the Kirov region

The Red Book Commission has been actively working since the beginning of the year. Experts have analyzed scientific data on the flora and fauna of the Kirov region over the past 10 years. As a result, proposals were formed to adjust the list of animals, plants and fungi listed in the regional Red Book.

The previous list of "red book" species was approved back in 2013. The new list will differ by about 20%. Species that have regained their numbers will be excluded from the list of protected species. In the Kirov region, these are the marsh harrier, the gray shrike, the big booze and others. Instead, it is proposed to include species that have recently been added to the list of the Red Book of Russia.: small swan, Dubrovnik, as well as species that have a tendency to reduce their numbers or reduce the area of their habitats — the arion spotted eagle, the modest horned eagle, the great gopher, the klintuch and others. The manuscript of the third edition of the Red Book of the Kirov Region will be prepared this year.
