Kirov residents were told about hazardous waste
Hazardous wastes are substances that can be toxic, easily ignite or explode, posing a threat to humans and the ecosystem. The greatest danger is Class 1 and Class 2 waste, which is strictly prohibited from being placed in ordinary containers for municipal solid waste.
Class 1 (extremely hazardous) includes waste that irreversibly disrupts the ecosystem. Prolonged inhalation of mercury vapors contained, for example, in mercury thermometers and lamps, can lead to poisoning. This class also includes pesticides, building materials with asbestos, and products containing heavy metals such as lead.
Class 2 (highly hazardous) causes a significant negative impact on nature, and the recovery period of contaminated areas can take more than 30 years. Inhalation of acid and alkali vapors can cause burns to the respiratory tract. This class includes batteries, accumulators, organic solvents, car tires, remnants of petroleum products, and even gunpowder with pyrotechnics.
It is important to remember that improper disposal of these wastes can lead to contamination of soil, water and air, as well as serious health problems.
What to do?
Do not dispose of hazardous waste in regular containers. There are special orange containers for collecting them. Find out where the reception points closest to you are located, and take care of the safety of your family and the environment. Remember, proper disposal of hazardous waste is a contribution to the future of our planet.
