On August 29, Istoben will "crunch" for the 30th time.
The XXX Interregional Festival "Istoben Cucumber" (0+) will take place on August 29, 2026, in the village of Istobensk in the Orichevsky district. Initially, it was scheduled for July 25, but a day before the start, the organizers canceled the event following a morning rocket attack on an industrial enterprise in Kirov on July 24.
According to a press release from the Kirov region government, this year's festival is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the region. Organizers expect guests from various regions of Russia and abroad.
Several locations will be open for visitors: near the House of Culture, at the stadium, on the banks of the Vyatka River, and in the central square. The program includes a fair, a carnival procession, a cucumber crunch championship, a checkers tournament, and competitions in mini-football and beach volleyball for the Cucumber Cup. Services will be held at the Trinity Church.
Let us remind you that on July 24, 2026, the organizers canceled the "Istoben Cucumber," as well as other events in the region — the "Vyl' Dzhuk" festival in the Slobodsky district, the Day of the Village in Lalsk, and the City Day in Kirs (the latter was postponed indefinitely). The decision was made following the attack on the industrial enterprise in Kirov.
