The Investigative Committee began an investigation after the death of a two-year-old girl who fell out of a window in Kirov.

      According to preliminary data, on the afternoon of August 25, the girl was in an apartment on Voroсhkov Street. The window in the room was open, and the child was left unsupervised by adults for a while. The girl climbed onto the windowsill and fell from the fifth floor. She died from her injuries.

      Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Kirov reported that medical personnel arrived at the scene, but they were unable to save the child. The police have also begun an investigation.

      Now investigators are establishing the circumstances of the tragedy. A procedural decision will be made based on the results of the investigation.

      The Investigative Committee reminds parents not to leave small children unsupervised, to move furniture away from windows that a child could climb onto the windowsill, and to install special restrictors or locks.

      Investigators also recommend ventilating rooms only in a vertical mode and not leaving windows fully open. Mosquito nets cannot protect a child from falling.
