A year-long project for comprehensive assistance to the homeless has been launched in Kirov.
Starting from August 1, a project titled "Time to Help. Assistance for Homeless People" has been launched in the regional center. As reported by the organizers from the Kirov Regional Public Organization "Lonely.NEТ", it replaces previous initiatives and provides for a more systematic approach to working with the target audience.
Under the terms of the project, support will be available not only to those who have lost their homes but also to individuals facing a lack of access to water, electricity, the internet, or mobile communication. Additionally, criteria include insufficient funds for food or medicine, inability to wash clothes, and difficulties in reading medical prescriptions. A total of 100 beneficiaries are expected to receive assistance over 13 months (until August 31, 2027).
The new project differs from previous phases of the organization's work by offering an expanded list of services and increased working hours for specialized professionals. For instance, with funding from the presidential grant, the working hours for the hairdresser will increase from three to four hours, and for the warehouse worker from two to four hours. The hours for consultation support will also be extended. Furthermore, a separate workspace for the consultant will be equipped, new first aid kits will be purchased, additional equipment for the shower will be acquired, along with shelves, a sink, and a mixer.
Among the planned services are showers, hairdressing services, washing and drying clothes, distribution of hygiene kits, clothing, and footwear. Information assistance, provision of first aid, and coordination for visits to clinics are also included. Two master classes on first aid will be a separate focus.
Partners have been involved in the implementation of the project: LLC "Medprof" will handle the disinfection of the premises, the Charity Fund "Let's Help Children Together. Kirov" will provide material assistance, and support is also provided by the Kirov Regional Public Organization "Knowledge", the Public Chamber of the Kirov Region, and the Mercy Service. The total budget for the project is 4.8 million rubles, of which the organization's co-financing exceeds 1.7 million rubles.
The organizers note that their activities address two objectives: directly supporting people in crisis situations and contributing to the improvement of the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the region, as homeless individuals often face unsanitary conditions and become sources of risk for others.
It is worth mentioning that "Lonely.NEТ" has implemented similar initiatives before. Earlier, Newsler.ru reported on the interim results of their work: in March of this year, it was reported that more than 80 homeless individuals used the shower and hairdressing services and received clothing, and later, in June, the organization announced the start of medical support for its beneficiaries through the presidential grant. The current project is a logical continuation of this work.
