The top manager of the Kirov branch of "Rostelecom" was detained on July 24 near the company's building in Kirov at Moscow, 20 while receiving money from a representative of a contracting organization with which Rostelecom has a number of contracts.
Three criminal cases have been initiated against the detainees under Part 3 of Article 290 and Part 3 of Article 291 (giving and receiving bribes) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, regarding the transfer of money in July, as well as documented similar incidents in June and May of this year involving illegal actions by officials of the Kirov branch of PJSC Rostelecom.
The next day, on July 25, the court chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention for them. Both individuals are currently in a pre-trial detention center.
As reported by Newsler.ru, a representative of the commercial firm has agreed to cooperate with the investigation and is providing confessions regarding other similar episodes of criminal activity.
The investigation suggests that the payment for the protection of the commercial company and assistance in securing contracts, starting from the fall of 2024, could amount to about 100,000 rubles per month. In addition, there is information that the top manager may have assisted in the implementation of a contract with Rostelecom for outsourcing areas of the region.
Meanwhile, sources familiar with the situation do not rule out that the scale of such "practices" of interaction with contractors could be much larger.
Currently, the possible involvement of other officials of the Kirov branch of PJSC Rostelecom in similar actions is being investigated.
According to the source, corruption in the Kirov branch of PJSC Rostelecom has been thriving for several years. More or less large projects that receive federal or regional funding have generally been accompanied by selfish intent from the management of the Kirov branch of PJSC Rostelecom.
