According to the Prosecutor's Office of the Kirov Region, the supervisory agency regularly checks the enforcement of laws in the forestry industry and interacts with law enforcement agencies in the region.
Primarily, prosecutors demand through the courts to eliminate violations and compensate for the damage caused to the forest fund. In particular, the lawsuits are related to the failure to fulfill obligations regarding forest management, reforestation, and forest protection, including in specially protected natural areas. The agency also seeks to eliminate violations of fire safety requirements and the rules for the operation of wood storage points.
Special attention is paid to the recovery of damages for illegal logging. In 2025-2026, prosecutors recovered 13.5 million rubles from unscrupulous lessees of forest plots through lawsuits.
In total, during the first six months of 2026, prosecutors filed 30 lawsuits. 16 of them have already been satisfied by the court, and two cases were terminated after voluntary compliance with the requirements. The remaining applications are under consideration.
Checks on the enforcement of legislation and control over the execution of court decisions continue.
