The accident occurred on July 22 at around 12:43 at a railway crossing between the Svetlopolyansk and Verkhnekamskaya stations of the Gorky Railway, near the village of Starcevo. According to preliminary data, the driver of the KamAZ truck drove onto the tracks in front of an approaching train. The train driver applied emergency braking, but the distance was too short, and a collision could not be avoided. As a result of the accident, the truck driver and the diagnostic complex technician were injured. The KamAZ driver was hospitalized. After the collision, timber materials spilled out of the truck's body. Railway workers began clearing the crossing to restore road traffic. The Kirov Transport Prosecutor's Office organized an inspection of compliance with railway transport safety legislation. According to the press service, specialists are establishing all the circumstances and causes of the incident. If there are grounds, prosecutorial measures will be taken.
