A new themed holiday will be introduced in Russia — the Day of Hockey. The corresponding decree was signed by President Vladimir Putin.

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, signed a decree establishing the Day of Hockey. According to the document, the holiday will be celebrated on December 22. The decree states that the new date is introduced "for the purpose of popularizing and developing hockey." The document came into force on the day of its signing — July 20, 2026.
