The investigative department for the investigation of crimes committed using information technology has completed the investigation of a criminal case against a resident of the Mari El Republic born in 2002 and a 25-year-old resident of Kirov. According to the police, the young men met online and decided to use their knowledge in the field of computer information to steal money. To do this, they targeted citizens who, after blocking their old phone number, did not unlink it from their account on the State Services portal. One of the victims was a 60-year-old resident of the Orichevsky district. The resident of Mari El obtained his personal data from an unidentified person. Meanwhile, the Kirov resident purchased a SIM card with self-registration functionality at one of the shopping centers in Kirov. With its help, the accused gained access to the man's account on the State Services and copied his personal data. After that, in the name of the victim, they took out two loans from microfinance organizations for a total amount of 9,000 rubles. The money was withdrawn through a third party's bank card and spent on personal needs. Employees of the cybercrime department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Kirov region detained the suspects. They seized computer equipment from them. During the investigation, the involvement of both individuals in the crimes was confirmed. The young men admitted their guilt and compensated for the damage caused. The criminal case has been sent to the Kuzhenersky District Court of the Mari El Republic. The indictment was approved by the prosecutor's office of the Primorsky district of Kirov. Operatives continue to check the possible involvement of the accused in other crimes.
