In the Kirov region, more than a thousand hectares of land have been treated for hogweed.
In the Kirov region, the program to combat Sosnowski's hogweed continues. Work is being carried out in all districts and areas of the region, as reported at a meeting of the committee on agrarian policy and rural development.
According to the press service of the regional government, in 2026, land treatment is being conducted in 108 municipalities. The total area of the plots where the dangerous plant is planned to be destroyed will be 1,030 hectares.
Every year, 32 million rubles are allocated from the regional budget to fight hogweed. Work is carried out on lands that are municipally owned, as well as on plots where state ownership has not been delineated.
Municipalities independently choose methods for treating overgrown areas. They use mechanical, chemical, or mixed methods for this purpose.
The program is carried out in two stages. The first stage was completed on July 15. Municipalities have now begun the second stage, which they plan to complete by September 30.
Additionally, municipal entities use their own funds and off-budget sources. This year, local budgets funded work on plots with a total area of 159 hectares, and another 62.5 hectares were treated using off-budget funds.
