A domestic hen has an egg stuck in its oviduct due to parasites.
A domestic hen with classic symptoms, at first glance, such as lethargy, loss of appetite, and significant weight loss, was brought to the appointment with ornithologist Margarita Cherezova. A preliminary examination confirmed the concerns — the bird was diagnosed with delayed egg-laying. However, the veterinarians at the "Together with a Loyal Friend" clinic decided not to limit themselves to superficial diagnostics and conducted a comprehensive study to determine the underlying cause of the condition.
The test results showed that the problem was much more serious. The bird's body was significantly weakened due to extensive invasion by flagellated protozoa and helminths. The parasites triggered a powerful inflammatory process in the oviduct, causing the egg to be unable to move normally along its natural path and to become stuck in its lumen. Without timely assistance, such a condition could lead to a fatal outcome.
After stabilizing the patient's condition, veterinary surgeons performed surgery to remove the stuck egg. The postoperative therapy course was comprehensive: the bird was prescribed antiparasitic drugs, antibacterial and antifungal agents, as well as supportive therapy for recovery.
Now the hen feels well. She is active, eagerly accepts feed, and has noticeably gained weight. After completing the treatment, she was handed over to the care and further placement by veterinarians, where a new stage of life began for the bird.
The doctors remind that decreased activity, weight loss, refusal to eat, and cessation of egg-laying in domestic birds are clear signals of distress. The sooner the owner seeks help, the higher the chance of avoiding severe consequences and saving the pet.
Earlier, we reported that a raven chick named Graf was brought to the "Big Nest" wildlife rescue center, where his toes had been deformed due to improper feeding by humans. A lack of calcium in the diet led to the curvature of the limbs, and now the chick is receiving vitamin injections and fixation for recovery.

A domestic hen has an egg stuck in its oviduct due to parasites.
The reason for the sharp deterioration in the condition of the domestic hen was not just a delay in laying eggs, but a widespread parasitic invasion that was identified by veterinarians. The weakened body of the bird could not cope with the inflammation, and the egg literally became stuck inside.
