Residents of Kirov have started to undergo MRI and CT scans more frequently.
According to the regional health ministry, there are currently 9 MRI machines and 38 CT scanners operating in the region. High-tech equipment has been installed not only in Kirov but also in central district hospitals.
In the first five months of this year, approximately 11,000 MRI studies and more than 33,000 CT studies were performed for the region's residents. The increase in the number of examinations has been made possible by accessible appointments at specialized diagnostic centers for patients from all medical organizations in the area.
Health Minister Ekaterina Vidyakina reminded that the appointment of CT and MRI must be justified. According to her, before undergoing such studies, especially those involving contrast agents, the patient must undergo necessary examinations, including consultations with relevant specialists and other diagnostic procedures—ultrasound, X-rays, or endoscopy, depending on the disease.
