Kirov Region is the first in the country for detecting "fake" alcohol and dangerous food.
At a meeting, Governor Alexander Sokolov reported that the Kirov region ranked first in the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia's rating for combating the illegal turnover of products. He thanked the police and prosecutor's office employees for their work.
According to Sokolov, last year more than 1,000 violations in the field of illegal turnover were identified in the Kirov region, including alcoholic products. More than 26,000 liters of counterfeit alcohol were seized. Thirty alcohol markets were closed, and the sale of alcohol was halted in seven establishments.
Additionally, in 2025, 258 violations related to the sale of food products were identified in the region. A total of 189 batches of substandard and dangerous products weighing over five tons were removed from circulation and disposed of. Sokolov noted that several retail outlets of one chain sold substandard products that had not undergone inspections and standardization.
Furthermore, 4,500 units of unlabeled clothing and footwear were removed from circulation, mostly consisting of goods from abroad.
