56% of Kirov residents live by the principle that "the workday is just the beginning."
In the regional center, a paradoxical situation has developed: the normative duration of the working day has ceased to be a guideline for a significant part of the employed population. According to the results of a recent survey of employed city residents, only one in three Kirov residents adheres to the hours set by their company. The remaining 56% regularly stay after the end of the working day or take tasks home, effectively turning overtime work into a daily practice.
It is particularly interesting to see how employee behavior changes depending on their age and income. It turned out that young specialists under 35 demonstrate the highest engagement in overtime (almost 60%), but by the age of 45, this figure drops to 52%. Kirov residents seem to develop an immunity to "labor heroism" over time, preferring to value personal time. However, there is also a downside: among those earning over 150,000 rubles, the proportion of those staying late at work rises to 64%, while for those earning up to 100,000, this figure is only 52%. It turns out that a high salary in Kirov often becomes not a reward for efficiency, but a payment for additional time resources.
The volume of additional investments is also impressive. Most often (in 24% of cases), overtime consumes 11 to 25% of standard time, but on average, the working month is extended by 26%. This is a serious burden, which is distributed differently depending on the field of activity. Contrary to stereotypes about "overworking" IT specialists, programmers and designers turned out to be among those who stay at work less than others. The anti-record for the frequency of overtime is set by drivers and warehouse employees. But when it comes to the pure volume of additional hours, unexpectedly, representatives of the social sector lead: nurses, doctors, and educators, as well as administrators and couriers. Residents of the Kirov region work an average of 5.5 years at their first job. Kirovstat showed who earns the most in the region. Internships in Kirov: 70% of youth receive offers, but most only need experience.

While some argue about the balance between life and work, most residents of Kirov have long made the choice in favor of extra hours. Fresh data from personnel studies paints an unusual portrait of the modern employee: the older a person gets, the less often they stay late at the office, while with an increase in salary, the willingness to work outside of regular hours, on the contrary, rapidly increases.
