In the Kirov region, two fishermen were caught illegally fishing during the spawning period.
The investigation of two criminal cases under paragraphs "b" and "c" of part 1 of article 256 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal extraction of aquatic biological resources) has been completed by the Investigation Department of the Kirov Linear Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Transport.
The first incident occurred in early May at the 428th kilometer of the Vyatka River in the Soviet District. A 39-year-old local resident caught seven fish — a pike, a crucian carp, and a bream — during the spawning period using a rowing boat and a set net.
The second violator was detained later at the 333rd kilometer of the river in the Lebyazhsky District. A 45-year-old man in wading boots set up a 34-meter-long net, blocking the natural passage of fish. He managed to catch 10 specimens of roach.
The prohibited fishing gear and catch have been seized. The total damage to the environment exceeded 15,000 rubles. The criminal cases have been referred to the court. The maximum penalty under this article is imprisonment for up to two years.
