In the Kirov region, a thunderstorm caused three fires in one day.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, three fires caused by lightning were recorded in the region over the past 24 hours. The temperature of a lightning strike can reach 30,000 degrees Celsius — about five times hotter than the surface of the Sun. Each discharge carries enormous energy capable of instantly igniting dry grass, trees, and structures. Rescuers remind people of the rules of conduct during a thunderstorm. If you are at home, it is necessary to close doors and windows, eliminate drafts, turn off the television and electrical appliances, disconnect the antenna, and finish using the stove or fireplace. Outside during a thunderstorm, do not come into contact with metal objects and do not seek shelter under large trees. Near bodies of water, you should immediately leave the water and move away from the shoreline, and if you are in a boat — dock to the shore. The Ministry of Emergency Situations urges residents of Kirov to take precautions and not risk their lives in bad weather.
