The region wants to build four more waste sorting facilities.
At a government meeting, it was announced that a waste sorting and processing complex called "Central" with a capacity of 200 tons per year will be built in the Slobodsky district. In addition, four more waste sorting facilities are planned to be constructed by the end of 2028. They will be located in the Luzsky, Shabalinsky, Vyatskopolyansky, and Yaran districts. All these facilities will process the "lion's share" of waste from the Kirov region, noted Governor Alexander Sokolov.
It was also mentioned that 451 village landfills have been eliminated in 15 municipalities in the Kirov region (83% of all such landfills), and five more are planned to be eliminated in 2026 in the Kilmizsky, Kirovo-Chepetsky, Podosinovsky, Falensky, and Orlovsky districts. Additionally, the landfill in the Lebyazhsky district will be reclaimed, and a project for the reclamation of the landfill in Mirny will be developed.
The government noted that efforts are also being made to combat those who create illegal landfills. Thirteen such landfills have appeared in Kirov. Authorities have filed 13 lawsuits, nine of which have been satisfied.
After hearing the report on the "waste" facilities in the region, Sokolov instructed his subordinates to implement another idea — to place QR codes near each container so that people can leave feedback. He suggested implementing this through the messenger "Max."
