Sokolov ordered to impose fines for cutting down trees in Victory Park.

      At a government meeting, the scandal regarding the tree felling in Victory Park in Kirov was discussed. Activists from the People's Front informed Governor Alexander Sokolov about it. They asked him to intervene in the situation.

      Sokolov expressed the opinion that the city authorities should have discussed the park's improvement project and the tree felling in detail with local residents, but they did not do so. He instructed representatives from the Ministry of Ecology and those responsible for the improvement to go to the site today and "penalize for every small felled tree to the fullest extent of the law." It should be noted that the work in the park is being carried out by the municipal "Gordormoststroy."

      Sokolov added: "In normal places, if there is a tree, the road goes around it, but you decided to save ten kopecks and go straight. Of course, it's shorter. But usually, the road is made where people walk, and people do not walk through trees." The governor publicly reprimanded the head of the Kirov administration, Vyacheslav Simakov, stating that he believes he poorly controls his subordinates.
