Prosecutor's Office of the Kirov Region: after the bus fire, violations by the carrier were revealed
On the morning of April 13, 2026, a fire broke out on bus route 116 while traveling from the bus station towards Pobedilovo Airport, in the area of the Lyangasovo microdistrict. The fire originated in the engine compartment. The driver and conductor organized the evacuation of passengers, successfully avoiding casualties or injuries.
The Prosecutor's Office of the Kirov Region conducted an inspection of the compliance with legislation regarding passenger transportation. The preliminary investigation authorities did not find signs of a crime under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Production, storage, transportation, or sale of goods and products, performance of work, or provision of services that do not meet safety requirements), and the initiation of a criminal case was denied.
Nevertheless, the supervisory authority involved specialists from the technical supervision department of the city traffic police in the inspection. Facts of violations by the transportation company of the consolidated bus schedule were uncovered. The customer under the contract did not carry out the necessary claims work with the contractor. The Prosecutor's Office issued recommendations for eliminating the violations.
Additionally, during the operation of several buses, facts of exceeding emissions of pollutants were identified. Administrative proceedings were initiated against the responsible individuals among the transportation company's employees under Article 8.23 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.
The consideration of the prosecutor's responses has been taken under control, and the verification activities are ongoing.
