The culprit of the traffic accident added someone else's "Lada" to the crash and received 400 thousand from the insurance.

      The Vyatskopolyansky District Court issued a verdict against a 57-year-old local resident who attempted to defraud an insurance company by staging an accident involving someone else's car. The man, already being the cause of a real traffic accident in which his "Mazda 6" was damaged, decided to stage a collision involving a "Lada" belonging to an acquaintance.

      As established in court, this occurred in July 2025. The defendant aimed for illegal enrichment: he artificially "added" a second vehicle to the road incident to alter the circumstances of the event and claim insurance. After that, he contacted the insurance company and secured a payout of 400,000 rubles.

      The scheme was uncovered during the proceedings. The state prosecutor proved the defendant's guilt, and the court agreed with the qualification under part 2 of article 159.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud in the field of insurance).

      By the time the verdict was announced, the man had already managed to reimburse part of the stolen amount. The remaining 267,000 rubles were recovered from him by the court at the request of the insurance company's representative. As a punishment, taking into account mitigating circumstances, he was sentenced to 300 hours of compulsory work.
