Doctors talked about ways to bring sugar levels back to normal in prediabetes.
Many patients diagnosed with "prediabetes" wonder: can the process be reversed and prevent the development of type 2 diabetes? As reported by the press service of the Center for Traumatology, Orthopedics, and Neurosurgery, the answer is positive.
Experts explain that prediabetes is a condition where blood glucose levels are already above normal but have not yet reached the criteria for full-blown diabetes. And, as numerous studies confirm, this stage does not always progress to disease.
There is a way out. A significant number of people manage to normalize their blood sugar levels through lifestyle changes. In numbers, this looks like this: a weight loss of 5-7%, a balanced diet, and regular physical activity reduce the risk of prediabetes progressing to type 2 diabetes by more than 50%.
Restoring carbohydrate metabolism is possible, and the key role here is played not by pills, but by the specific actions of the patient themselves. The medical institution emphasizes: prediabetes can be "canceled" without waiting for the disease to develop.

Prediabetes is not a sentence and not a mandatory step towards type 2 diabetes. Medical institutions explained how lifestyle changes can help "reverse" the process and restore carbohydrate metabolism in a significant portion of patients.
