Bikaluk was outraged by the mention of vodka in a children's story.
At a meeting of one of the committees of the Legislative Assembly, Deputy Albert Bikaluk drew the attention of those present to the stories that our elementary school students are studying. In particular, he mentioned a story by a Canadian author. He read a couple of excerpts from it, in which it is mentioned that the protagonist has a harmful addiction to vodka and tries to obtain it by all possible means. The deputy emphasized that while children read such stories, the Kirov region is among the leaders in alcoholization.
Bikaluk also recounted a case when, for New Year, elementary school students were given books with an age rating of 12+. He indignantly suggested that, following such logic, the next gift for them would be the famous ancient Indian book on the art of love.
First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kurdyumov commented on the deputy's words. He reminded that all school books are purchased in accordance with GOST. He noted: "If you read this alone, there's no need to share it with us. If, however, it is used by educational organizations, this information should be provided." Regarding Bikaluk's second complaint and his last words, Kurdyumov urged the deputy to be more careful about what he says, especially in the run-up to the elections.
