The schedule for the Velikoretsky Cross Procession - 2026 has been published.
The Velikoretsky pilgrimage is one of the oldest, most populous, and longest in Russia. Its history dates back to 1383, when a peasant named Semyon Agalakova saw an image of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker on the banks of the Great River. News of the healings spread throughout the region, and since then, believers have made the 180-kilometer journey—first bringing the relic to Khlynov (now Kirov), and then annually returning it to the place of its discovery.
According to the published schedule, on June 3 at 7:00 AM, a Divine Liturgy will begin at the Holy Assumption Cathedral of the Trifon Monastery, followed by a prayer service in the cathedral square, and at 10:00 AM, the procession will head to Velikoretskoe.
