Kirov Oblast is among the regions where triplets were born in 2026.
Specialists from the Social Fund analyzed data on births required for assigning payments to families in the first quarter of 2026. The focus was on the geography of multiple births.
The leadership in twins is predictably held by the largest regions. In first place is Moscow — 416 twins. In second place is the Moscow region (254). The third position is occupied by St. Petersburg (222). Rounding out the top five are Krasnodar Krai (196) and Rostov Oblast (168).
As for triplets, they were registered in only five regions from January to March 2026. In addition to Moscow, the list includes Ivanovo Oblast, Kirov Oblast, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and Samara Oblast.
The birth of twins automatically increases the volume of state support. The Social Fund reminded that the maternity and childbirth allowance for a mother of twins averages 418.3 thousand rubles — 116.5 thousand more than for the birth of one child (301.8 thousand). The one-time allowance for birth has increased to 28.45 thousand rubles for each child since February, so for twins, the family receives 56.9 thousand rubles.
Moreover, if the family previously did not have the right to maternity capital, they will receive an increased certificate for the birth of twins — more than 963 thousand rubles. The Social Fund also pays for medical services during and after childbirth with maternity certificates, and then for preventive examinations of twins up to one year old.
In the future, the mother can expect a childcare allowance until 1.5 years and a single allowance. Starting in June, there will be an annual family payment — a new type of support that allows working parents with two or more children to reclaim part of the taxes paid.
An important nuance for parents of twins: both can take leave to care for each child. If only one parent is on leave, they receive 40% of the average salary for each child — a total of 80% of income. If both parents are on leave, each receives their own 40%.
The Social Fund notes that the volume of support for families is growing annually, and many measures are implemented within the framework of the national project "Family." The Fund also aims to transition payments to a non-application format so that assistance reaches families without unnecessary requests. For Kirov Oblast, being included in the list of regions with triplets is a rare case, and for the family where this occurred, it means the maximum amount of entitled payments. Kirov beneficiaries began receiving vouchers to sanatoriums in 2026. In Kirov Oblast, 14.5 thousand applications for tax benefits were submitted in three months. Kirov Oblast ranked in the top five in the Volga Federal District for the size of benefits for housing and communal services but lagged behind neighbors in subsidies.
