The average payout for compulsory motor third-party liability insurance (OSAGO) has increased by almost 10%.
According to the RSA, the average payout for compulsory motor third party liability insurance (OSAGO) from January to March increased by 9.8% compared to the same period last year, amounting to 118,877 rubles. A year earlier, this amount was 108,312 rubles. Over two years, the payout increased by 27.2%, and over three years — by 43.3%.
The average premium for annual policies remained virtually unchanged at 7,645 rubles. In total, insurers collected 75 billion rubles in premiums and paid out 60.9 billion rubles during the quarter. The number of contracts concluded reached 15.6 million, of which 6 million were short-term policies (with an average premium of 210 rubles).
The RSA noted that in more than half of the regions of Russia, the payout level, taking into account business expenses, exceeded 100% — meaning that OSAGO is unprofitable there. Among such regions are the North Caucasus, Primorsky and Khabarovsk territories, Altai, Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Mari El, Yakutia, Novosibirsk, Smolensk, Chelyabinsk, Penza, and Yaroslavl regions (more than 60 subjects in total).
To rectify the situation, insurers propose to more actively combat fraud and unfair practices on the roads.
