Residents of the Kirov nine-story building have been unable to leave their homes for the second month.
In the nine-story building at Vorovskogo, 100, the only elevator has not been working for a month and a half. A specialized organization has deemed its operation impossible: the cable is damaged, there is a risk of breakage and the cabin falling with people inside.
The elevator has been shut down. For a whole group of residents, this has become a real trap.
The elderly and disabled have found themselves effectively locked in their apartments. Neighbors bring them food and medicine — there is no other way to survive on the upper floors right now.
One of the most difficult situations is on the eighth floor. A man who suffered a stroke and moves in a wheelchair lives there. Regular trips for rehabilitation have turned into a trial for his wife: the woman is forced to carry the heavy wheelchair with her sick husband down the stairs alone.
On the ninth floor, there is another problem. A resident recently had a kidney removed. He is being discharged from the oncology dispensary soon, and his wife is already struggling to figure out how to get her operated husband upstairs without the elevator.
It is no easier for mothers with small children. It is impossible to lift a stroller to the upper floors — they have to carry the little ones in their arms. And if a child has a fever and an ambulance is called, doctors with heavy equipment cases also have to climb the stairs.
Residents have sought help from the People's Front. Activists quickly discovered an important detail: despite the accident, the elevator is still under warranty.
It turned out that the Capital Repair Fund had already sent the contractor demands to fix the defect. This has not yielded any results.
Now the People's Front intends to take further action. Activists have sent a request to the prosecutor's office, and the next step is a lawsuit. The People's Front emphasizes: the rights of residents have clearly been violated, especially when it comes to people with limited mobility.
The elevator underwent major repairs in 2021. The cost of the work amounted to 1.6 million rubles.

Residents of the Kirov nine-story building have been unable to leave their homes for the second month.
The only elevator in the building on Vorovskogo, 100 was shut down back in January due to the emergency condition of the cable — the cabin could collapse at any moment. Among the residents are disabled individuals, patients recovering from serious surgeries, and families with infants. The elevator is still under warranty, but the contractor is ignoring the demands of the Capital Repair Fund. The situation has been intervened by the ONF.
