Can Kirov be left without a school in Makarye?

      Today, April 29, during a meeting of the Kirov City Duma, the issue of transferring municipal property to the region was discussed. Deputy Vladimir Zhuravlev expressed outrage that the city keeps giving away property without receiving anything in return. He proposed to appeal to the government with a request to transfer the building in Makarye, where the physics and mathematics lyceum used to be located, to Kirov. The deputy noted that residents of nearby areas desperately need a school there.

      The head of the Kirov administration, Vyacheslav Simakov, reported that a corresponding letter to the Kirov regional government has already been sent. Zhuravlev replied that he is aware of this but is not sure that the region will actually give the building to the city. According to him, other options are being considered, such as transferring the building to "Sberbank" or another interested party. "But this school is needed for us in our place of residence; it is extremely important," Zhuravlev added. He expressed hope that regional authorities are watching the meeting and asked them to consider transferring the building specifically to the city.
