More than 2,000 residents of Kirov are receiving payments for the anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster.
According to the regional branch of the Social Fund, as of today, various payments and compensations are provided to 2,135 residents of the region. Among them are the liquidators of the consequences of the disaster, citizens who have received radiation sickness or disability, as well as those evacuated from exclusion zones.
For "Chernobyl victims," more than 30 support measures are provided. The main one remains a monthly cash payment. In addition, there are compensations for food, health damage reimbursement, and payments for rehabilitation.
Certain benefits relate to pension provision. Depending on the category of victims, the retirement age may be reduced by a period of 5 to 10 years. In some cases, it is possible to receive two pensions simultaneously — for example, for disability and old age.
Support measures also extend to the family members of the victims — widows and children. Separate payments and compensations are also provided for them.
Most services are now available electronically: applications can be submitted through the government services portal or at the client services of the Social Fund. Some payments are assigned automatically, without citizens having to apply.
The fund noted that all support measures are indexed annually, taking into account the rise in consumer prices.
