"This is disrespect": deputies assessed housing for Kirov teachers
At the meeting of the Duma commission, the provision of municipal housing for teachers in Kirov was discussed. Deputies have long suggested creating a housing fund for teachers and educators, but the implementation of this idea seems quite doubtful.
As reported by the administration, 10 one-bedroom apartments have been offered to those interested on Airport Street, 2. They have been renovated, but are located in one of the most remote neighborhoods of the city — Pobedilovo, near the airport. Nevertheless, seven of them are already occupied.
In addition, in 2026, the authorities renovated two large apartments at Lenin, 79 — a four-room and a five-room apartment. They decided to divide them into parts — one room per teacher. Deputy Denis Erokhin expressed the opinion that this is disrespectful to teachers, to which the administration responded that no one wants to take such large apartments in full due to the huge utility bills. By the end of the month, it is planned to allocate rooms in these apartments.
Also, in Kirov, cadastral work has been completed for the municipal dormitory at Leps, 60. There are 11 vacant rooms, nine are intended for teachers, and two for orphans. Erokhin asked whether poor teachers would have to live next to marginalized individuals. Officials responded that they would try to allocate a separate block for official housing to prevent this from happening.
Deputy Vladimir Zhuravlev — one of those who requested the preparation of official housing for teachers — expressed the opinion that the administration should attract federal funds. It is unknown whether Kirov will undertake such a large-scale effort.
