Oleg Valenchuk: We are carrying out the instruction of the President of Russia on the development of adaptive sports.
The Judo Federation of the Kirov Region has been developing adaptive judo for over 10 years. During this time, a strong material and technical base has been created, and an experienced coaching staff has been formed. However, in recent years, adaptive sports have been experiencing a real boom, and this is no coincidence, noted State Duma deputy, president of the Judo Federation of the Kirov Region Oleg Valenchuk. Our national leader Vladimir Putin has set the task of large-scale development of this direction, instructing to expand the competition calendar at all levels – from amateur regional tournaments to major international ones. This is a powerful impetus for the development of Paralympic and Deaflympic sports in Russia.
The Kirov Region has already established itself as a breeding ground for talent in adaptive judo. Over the past few years, our athletes have repeatedly stood on the podiums at all-Russian tournaments. In 2025, in Tambov, the champions of Russia in judo (LIM sport) were Abram Zhukov in the weight category up to 90 kg (Vyatskie Polyany, sports club "Randori," coach Yu.A. Panagushin) and Anton Syuzev in the weight category up to 100 kg (Sovetsk, KOGAУ DO VYATSHSHOR, honored coach of Russia I.Yu. Glubokovsky). There, the Kirov Region team took first place in the unofficial team standings of the Russian Championship. Our young athletes won 5 gold, 7 silver, and 8 bronze medals. This is the result of the coordinated work of the coaches and the determination of the athletes themselves.
This year, judokas from Sovetsk, Vyatskie Polyany, and Kotel'nich will be represented in almost all weight categories. Their coaches: Igor Glubokovsky, Yuri Ponagushin, and Roman Ivanov, have put a lot of effort into preparing their charges, and now they are ready to show everything they are capable of.
– I am confident that the strength of spirit, character, and excellent preparation will allow our guys to collect medals and represent the Vyatka judo school with dignity on the all-Russian stage, – says Oleg Valenchuk. – I sincerely wish our judokas and their coaches exciting matches on the tatami, fair judging, and, of course, new victories!
