"Mini" dog is not a toy. Opinion of a dog trainer.
According to the president of the RKF, Vladimir Golubev, healthy miniature size is when the dog's weight is at the lower limit of the norm. However, such individuals are often excluded from breeding due to concerns for the health of the mother and offspring. Anything below the acceptable threshold is a deviation associated with inexperienced or unethical breeding.
What the "mini" size threatens:
Fragility. Thin bones break easily, and an open fontanel (a part of the skull) can remain for life—any head trauma is fatal. The risk of injury is high even at home: an unsuccessful jump from the couch, a fall from the stairs, or accidental crushing.
Problems with thermoregulation. Puppies quickly freeze in winter and overheat in summer. The owner will have to constantly monitor the temperature, and in the heat, literally walk the dog under an umbrella.
Feeding difficulties. Due to a narrow esophagus, even food for small breeds can get stuck in the throat. Skipping meals threatens a sharp drop in sugar, which requires emergency intervention.
Small dog syndrome. If a pet is constantly carried in arms and not socialized, it will grow anxious, overly attached, and panic at any sound.
When acquiring a "mini" dog, one must realize: this is not a trendy toy, but risks comparable to caring for a premature child. Pregnancy in such dogs is strictly prohibited, and their lifespan is often short due to all the aforementioned factors.

The Russian Cynological Federation (RKF) warns: the pursuit of ultra-small pet sizes often leads to serious deviations from breed standards and health problems. The trend for "mini" dogs, popular in the 2000s, was actually a marketing ploy that hides risks, experts warn.
