The anniversary of the Kirov region will be celebrated in Moscow and St. Petersburg without the residents of Kirov.
In 2026, the Kirov region will celebrate its 90th anniversary. Judging by the statements of regional officials, they plan to celebrate this significant date thousands of kilometers away from home — in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
St. Petersburg was chosen for a reason. It was from there that the dramatic theater was evacuated to Kirov during the war. In 2026, it will be 85 years since it held its first performance. Additionally, the region will participate in the St. Petersburg festival "State Russia" to showcase its culture to young people from other places. Local authorities also plan to install a bust of the designer of the atomic icebreaker "Lenin," Vasily Neganov, in the town of Malmyzh. The St. Petersburg Central Design Bureau "Iceberg" promises to help.
The Moscow program turned out to be even more eventful. On the old Arbat, a photo exhibition about tourism and the region's industry is promised. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation will present Kirov's tourist routes. One of the 40 venues in the capital will host a fair called "Kirov Food Products." Outdoor advertising featuring the 90th-anniversary symbols will be placed on 10,000 digital structures throughout Moscow.
There will also be attempts to engage the youth. The National Center "Russia" plans to hold a meeting with students from other cities who are natives of the Kirov region. Festivals showcasing local brands such as "Istoben cucumber," "Dymkovo toy," "Capital of Dawns," "Gates of the Russian North," and even "Homeland of Ivan Tsarevich" will be organized in the capital's parks.
Separately, the installation of objects featuring the Dymkovo toy in iconic locations in Moscow and the launch of a themed train on the busiest line of the Moscow metro are being discussed.
