A drunk 14-year-old teenager from Sovetsk stabbed his friend in the back with a shard.
The Prosecutor's Office of the Soviet District of the Kirov Region supported the charges against a local minor. The court found him guilty of intentionally causing serious harm to health (paragraph "z" part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The investigation and the court established that on the evening of October 8, 2024, in the yard of a house on Svobody Street, a quarrel broke out between two friends. They exchanged insults, but the conflict did not end with words. Angered, the teenager grabbed a shard of glass and struck his acquaintance in the back. As a result of the blow, the victim sustained a stab wound, which medical professionals classified as serious harm to health, life-threatening.
The court agreed with the position of the state prosecutor and sentenced the minor to 1 year of imprisonment. The defendant was taken into custody right in the courtroom. He will serve his sentence in a juvenile correctional facility.
The defense attempted to appeal the verdict, insisting on the lack of evidence of guilt. However, the Kirov Regional Court, having reviewed the appeal, changed the verdict to a harsher one: based on the prosecutor's arguments, the commission of the crime in a state of intoxication was considered an aggravating circumstance. The size of the punishment remained unchanged, and the defense's complaint was dismissed.
