The initiative to ban "accusatory information" in the media has been withdrawn from consideration.
The State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan has withdrawn the initiative to introduce the concept of "accusatory information" and to prohibit its dissemination in the media until a court decision comes into legal force. The corresponding decision was made by the author of the bill, Deputy Marat Galeev.
Previously, the document was sent for expert-legal evaluation to the Council of Legislators under the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. After the withdrawal of the initiative, the Tatarstan parliament requested to remove it from consideration.
The bill caused a wide public resonance. Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin urged colleagues to approach the development of such proposals more responsibly and to avoid populist initiatives.
At the same time, Volodin clarified that the document had not been submitted to the State Duma and was only at the stage of expert discussion.
