Businesses and self-employed individuals may be charged for a "digital mailbox" on "Gosuslugi".
A draft law has been submitted to the government of the Russian Federation that could completely change the approach to official correspondence between citizens, government structures, and the commercial sector. The document, developed by the Ministry of Digital Development, proposes the creation of a universal state platform for exchanging correspondence.
The main goal of the initiative is to eliminate the chaos of numerous disparate communication channels by replacing them with a single digital space. The core of the new system will be a personal account on the "Gosuslugi" portal, where a so-called digital mailbox will be opened for each user.
However, the terms of use for this service may vary depending on the status of the owner. While for ordinary citizens the functionality, according to the text of the document, will remain available in the usual mode, for business representatives and self-employed individuals, the new measure will be stricter.
For legal entities, individual entrepreneurs, and officially registered self-employed individuals, connecting to the platform is intended to be mandatory. Moreover, the use of the "digital mailbox" is planned to be charged. Sources familiar with the content of the document indicate that the developers have not yet disclosed the exact formula for the tariffs, but it is known that the payment structure may include a monthly subscription fee. Additionally, a separate tariff may be charged for sending certain categories of legally significant letters, reports the publication "RT in Russian."
The draft law also defines possible measures of influence on those who refuse to pay for the service. In case of debt, access to the mailbox may be suspended, which effectively paralyzes the ability of businesses to legally interact with government agencies. As compensation, the authors of the initiative have provided for free SMS notifications about new incoming messages or changes in status in the system.
