The Vyatka and Luza rivers are "darkening."

      Specialists have begun work on the so-called "darkening" of the ice — this is one of the key stages in protecting floating bridges from damage. According to the regional Road Committee, work is already underway in the water areas of rivers to apply dark materials — sand, ash, and slag — to the ice. This helps accelerate its melting by absorbing solar heat. In addition, ice-cutting equipment is being used for the mechanical destruction of the ice cover. According to Andrei Ryazanov, the deputy head of the relevant department, such measures help reduce the strength of the ice and prevent the formation of dangerous ice jams that could damage pontoon structures. At the same time, specialists are conducting constant monitoring of the ice situation and water levels to promptly adjust the course of work. It is noted that all activities are carried out as planned and aimed at ensuring safe transportation, including on the routes Looza — Lalsk — the border of the Komi Republic and Kazan — Perm in the area of the village of Gonyba.
