The prosecutor peered behind closed doors: a special facility for teenagers was inspected in Oryol
The Prosecutor of the Kirov Region, Yuri Ryvaev, inspected compliance with the law at a closed-type special educational and upbringing institution for juvenile offenders located in the town of Orlov. The visit took place on January 5; the regional children’s rights commissioner, Vladimir Shabardin, also took part.
The institution accepts adolescents by court decisions — it houses minors who have committed socially dangerous acts and require special conditions for upbringing and education. Currently, more than 80 adolescents from 27 constituent entities of the Russian Federation are being educated at the special institution.
During the inspection, the head of the regional supervisory authority familiarized himself with the specifics of the institution’s work, spoke with staff and wards, and inspected the grounds, academic buildings, and classrooms. Special attention was paid to compliance with fire safety requirements, sanitary and epidemiological legislation, and to creating safe and comfortable conditions for the stay and rehabilitation of minors.
Following the visit, an operational meeting was held with the institution’s management. The results of the inspection will be used in further supervisory activities.
The prosecutor’s office emphasized that inspections of institutions with round-the-clock accommodation for minors and other socially vulnerable categories of citizens in the Kirov Region continue.
