Parents of children with disabilities in the Kirov Region were paid for more than 23,000 additional days off.

Since the beginning of 2025 the Social Fund branch for the Kirov Region has paid parents, guardians and custodians of children with disabilities for more than 23,000 additional days off. The total amount of payments exceeded 93 million rubles.

This support measure allows families to receive four additional paid days off each month to spend more time caring for and rehabilitating the child without loss of income. The days can be used separately or consecutively. It is also permitted to "accumulate" the days and take them as a single period — up to 24 calendar days per year, for example, for the duration of a course of treatment or rehabilitation.

Parents decide themselves which of them will use these days: the days can be divided between the two parents in any proportion or transferred entirely to one of them.

To arrange the additional days off, it is necessary to submit an application to the employer and agree on the dates of absence. The application must be accompanied by a certificate of the child's disability, the birth certificate or guardianship documents, and, if necessary, a certificate from the second parent's place of employment. Payment is made based on average earnings.

There are, however, restrictions: unused days do not carry over to the next year and are not compensated with money. Additional days off are also not granted during annual leave, unpaid leave and parental leave to care for a child under three years old. However, during this period the second parent retains the right to the days off.
