After the fatal traffic accident, the prosecutor's office found violations in the traffic police's work.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Verkhoshizhemsky District took action after a traffic accident that occurred on the morning of October 21, 2025, on the Kirov–Sovetsk–Yaransk road. A Sitrak truck and a Renault Logan collided in the crash. The 52-year-old man who was driving the Renault and his 56-year-old passenger were killed. The incident caused a major public outcry.

In investigating the causes and circumstances of the tragedy, the prosecutor’s office found that officers of the territorial unit of the State Traffic Inspectorate (GIBDD) had not properly complied with the requirements of the law governing preventive work among road users. Statistics also indicate this: the rate of accidents and fatalities on the municipality’s roads remains high.

As the agency noted, administrative practice with respect to traffic law violators, including those who do not pay fines, was found to be ineffective and not in line with the real situation. Measures to influence violators in the district have been significantly reduced.

In addition, traffic police officers did not carry out preventive work in educational institutions in 2025. In particular, they did not hold talks with adolescents about the risks of using motorized vehicles without protective gear.

To remedy the identified violations, the prosecutor submitted a formal notice to the head of the Orichevsky Municipal Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The progress of its consideration is being monitored. Oversight of the situation and work to reduce road accidents in the region will continue.
